Something Darker caught my eye because of my “slight” fascination with mythology. OK, maybe slight doesn’t quite describe it. I used to stay up all night when I was a kid reading Greek Mythology and it my curiosity and love never faltered Not a lot of authors attempt the Egyptian aspect of this subject, although I know some do, I am always excited to see a new take on it! That brings me to the Inferi Dii and Something Darker…
Six gods of the darker powers hold back the evil that seeks to consume humanity. Six gods that gave up their lives, their loves and all but their most rudimentary powers in service to a mother goddess charged with keeping those that would harm the world at bay. Theirs is a lonely existence, as they fight and search for the one thing that will make them whole again.
A Keeper, the woman that becomes his other half, the key to his returning powers, and his sanity. Keepers are in possession of relics, and each man seeks to find his one—woman and relic. But The gods aren’t the only ones searching for the Keepers. Evil has their minions on earth, and will stop at nothing to possess the relics, to stop the gods from becoming powerful once more, and to open the gates to the nether realms to bring forth those that were promised this world eons ago.But the Gods of Darkness, the Inferi Dii, will not let that happen. The Battle ground is New York City, and after ages of thinking his relic was lost to antiquity, one god starts a chain of events that will lead to absolution, or our demise.

~ Interview with Stella Price~
Annie: What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
Stella : The ability to be able to tell stories and share them with people.
Annie: Your newest release, Something Darker (Inferi Dii #1) was just released. Can you tell us a little about it?
Stella : Something Darker, and the series in general came about because we wanted to see if we could successfully write a Team kinda book. Audra and I both like obscure things, and as we are both HUGE fans of research on gods and old cultures, we decided to being forth a great deal of the forgotten pantheons in romance literature. Have others done it before us? Sure. Have they done it like us? No. Out of everything we have out, it is one of our favorite things we write, and we are just happy to finally get it out to readers.
Annie: What was the most challenging part of research for Something Darker?
Stella : The Keeper Relics. Each one actually means something to the Culture and pantheon the character comes from, and it was a lot of digging for information on sacred objects.
Annie: What was the most interesting fact you learned during your research?
Stella : I mentioned this in a chat recently, but the Kissing factoid. In old cultures, people would kiss on the mouth, when with the sect, or with the priests and priestesses as a sign of respect. These people were the closest to the deities most would ever get, and the sharing of fluids helped to consecrate that fact.
Annie: What characters do you find the easiest to write – the bad? The good? The murderous psychos?
Stella : For me, I like writing men. I hate writing women. Audra LOVES writing the people that have that little touch to the head that makes them off, and she likes to write torture and mayhem. I like relationships, so it balances out.
Annie: Can you talk about any other upcoming releases that are in the works?
Stella : We have a book coming out with EC in the next year. It’s a rerelease of a book we had with a publisher that didn’t give it a chance to really make a splash, so we are really excited that EC picked it up and will be working with us on getting it out there, along with the corosponding series, which is been on the back burner since the initial book didn’t do so well. Also, We will have the first in a contemporary paranormal series probably in may, and that will also be a Self publish… unless the pub we want to take it falls in love with it, in which case, it could be out later. Finally, as Dagmar Avery (my erotic alter ego) I will have a new Steampunk short in another Steampunk Anthology with Elizabeth Darvill, A.L. Davroe and Jennifer Armintrout (the real one).
Annie: What is your favorite genre to write?
Stella :I love para. It really gives you room to create and room to play.
Annie: Holidays they are upon us! Do you love them or despise them and why?
Stella : Ugh Im not a huge fan of the holidays. Audra has kids now so shes just learning the wonder that is children on Xmas morning and the light in their eyes.
Annie: For those of you that don’t know – Authors After Dark is your convention. What inspired you to create such an intimate and creative convention for readers?
Stella : I was tired of paying throught the nose to go to RT. With all the money RT charges for registration, you get nothing but the honor of being at the con. No food (because the Authors that run the big food parties pay for it) so I wondered what the $ actually went to. I said screw it. I could do something better, cheaper, that was Reader-centric and make it awesome. That’s how AAD was born/
Annie: What are you most looking forward to experiencing while in Savannah?
Stella : Well I live 20 minutes outside of the city so I have already done all the cool stuff (and believe me theres a TON of cool stuff to do) but for the con itself, its seeing people I only get to see once a year, Hanging out with my Co author Charlotte Steel, and Hopefully Seeing Audra at the con again (but that’s only if Something Darker does well enough that we can afford to bring her over, Flights from across the pond are not cheap!)
Annie: So I love music almost as much as books. Do you think your characters or books have theme songs? What are they??
Stella : All of our characters have music playlists, if not theme songs. Im considering adding a page on the website for Play lists… so people can get to know the character better, and realize theres a lot more music out there than what the radio plays over and over and what is hot on the top 40.
Annie: If you could compare yourself to any fictional character who would that be?
Stella : That’s a REALL tough question. I have no idea really.
Annie: What childhood book influenced you most as an adult?
Stella : We both read The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klaus and it had a Major effect on us. Vampires and true love and loss? It set the seeds.
Annie: If you were fighting zombies what would your weapon of choice be?
Stella : Much like Darryl Dixon, Im all about a Crossbow. Quick, clean efficient. Audra, with her bloodthirstiness, She would want a machete I think… Cuz shes that insane.
