Forbidden desires…

Being a Brother and a caretaker isn’t an easy job, especially when you find yourself coveting the one person you were meant to protect but never have- your brother’s woman. That is exactly where Behr finds himself- in love and out of luck. Nothing a little killing can’t remedy. While looking for a little trouble to take his mind off what’s brewing at home, Behr finds the perfect distraction: hunting down the mythical Rage demon prowling his city’s streets.

Lost and alone…

Cheyenne doesn’t know what to do with herself. Weeks have passed with no sign of Erias, and as far as she knows, he’s dead. Just when she resigns herself to the difficult task of moving on with her life, he reappears, but the Erias she knew no longer exists. He’s a demon, the very thing he and his brother’s hunt each night. Can Erias overcome this transformation and find the strength to make it back to Cheyenne and the Brotherhood, and if he does, will they accept him? In a world plagued with uncertainty, only one thing is definite: no matter how it ends, someone’s heart is bound to get ripped to shreds.

~Short Excerpt ~

The fogginess of the dream lingered, clouding his vision and muddling his brain. He barely registered the shock of pain etched into her face from his tight hold around her delicate wrist. His ears were still ringing with the sound of her honeyed voice calling to him in his sleep, reminding him of something he couldn’t quite grasp, yet felt it was within his reach, words on the tip of the tongue that refused to form. If only he could stretch a little farther…

Then she was touching him, and it fled like a startled rabbit.

At the loss, his temper spiked out of control, ratcheting up so fast the only thing he could do was react.

He grabbed for the offender, prepared to inflict bodily damage. The soft intake of her startled breath wiped away the haze and Erias forced himself to focus, crashing back into reality and recognizing where he was and who he was with.

Concentrating, he took in the vision of Cheyenne’s slight frame, wide eyes and the closeness of her body. Hunger burned in his gut and his gums felt heavy. He would need to find sustenance soon.

“What are you doing?” Erias jerked her arm, pulling her a scant inch closer. His gaze dropped to her gaping mouth and when she didn’t immediately answer, he tugged again. “Answer me. What do you think you were doing?”

His demon strained just below the surface, tightening his skin and becoming a noose around his neck. Erias squeezed his eyes shut, fighting to keep the monster at bay. He couldn’t let it out, not yet.

Never, his mind shouted. If he had anything to say about it, the demon would never reveal itself again. He didn’t like the way this woman looked at him when he was in his demonic form. Frightened, horrified, possibly even appalled. He’d experienced a brief moment when she seemed to look at him like he was a man. It was the way she looked at him now. The effect drew them closer in some inexplicable way, and yet the gulf between them continued to grow ever wider.

“Erias?” Cheyenne whispered.

Erias wrenched his eyes open at the sudden spark of familiarity in her strained voice, and speared her with the intensity of his gaze as he tried desperately to puzzle it out.

The hand that he had found reaching out to him when he first opened his eyes extended toward him again, and he jerked his head back just before it could make contact.

What game did this woman play? It would be a grave mistake for her to underestimate him. If forced, he would kill, even a woman. He hoped this one wouldn’t push him that far. He would much rather have her alive—there were so many things he had planned for the two of them, and it would be a shame to miss out on even one.

Erias stared at Cheyenne, and she stared back. They were silent, each measuring the other. Her eyes were filled with gentle concern and an interest Erias couldn’t ignore.

Hesitantly, curious what she would do and needing to know the feel of her willing skin against his, Erias forced his muscles to relax a fraction. At the noticeable change in him, Cheyenne reached out the rest of the way and let her fingertips make the cautious connection.
