A Clockwork Christmas is an immaculate example of what I love about steampunk.   A Clockwork Christmas created not only a visual masterpiece for my imagination, but the charters were full of what (I think) defines this genre; passion, bravery, spunk, and intelligence.  A Clockwork Christmas contained all of those ingredients and more.  The story follows Olyve through an adventure of solving a little mystery after women are coming up missing.   She happens to stumble into more than expected.  Olyve meets every situation head on, even in some extremely scary situations.    A Clockwork Christmas has some darker aspects to it as well and is definitely not for under 18 readers.  The depiction of the clockworks and machines was brilliantly conveyed and a joy to read about.  With a romance element added in as well between Olyve and a mysterious man, there was not one thing I didn’t like about A Clockwork Christmas.

Olyve Blackwell is done playing by the rules.

With rumors of sorcery and danger shrouding her family, not even the whispers of Revolution can distract from her unwedable status. So, when a desperate woman hands her a questionable item and begs for her help, she decides to shatter the chains of propriety. Armed with the supernatural gift of psychometry, she delves into a life of sleuthing.

With Christmas on the way, she buries herself in a kidnapping case with deep roots in the ton. Her efforts to escape the loneliest holiday of the year bring her head to head with a mysterious stranger who may just be her most treacherous enemy…or the answer to her heart’s deepest desires.

When the call of her Intuition screams his name, Olyve will have to decide whether or not she will trust James Reeves. With betrayal lurking at every corner, one slip could destroy her and unleash the deadly potential hidden within.

I rate A Clockwork Christmas 4.5 out of 5 Bullets!

  1. Cyn says:

A Clockwork Christmas sounds like the perfectly fun, dark Christmas read haha. Thanks for the review, can’t wait to get my hands on it (:

  2. I think the “spunk” in Steampunk (S-punk) is very apt. This sounds like a fun one.
