I want to keep this giveaway short and to the point. Let’s face it. We all have a lot of shopping to do with little time to do it in. Holidays always stress me out. This year our family is doing a little vacation vs presents and it has been a fabulous relief. My 10 and 7 year old’s both agreed to this exchange. We are going to the Great Wolf Lodge and instead they are getting only a few presents. Yes, shockingly they agreed to this. My theme this year was MEMORIES. Not to sound like some weeping heart, but with staving children and homeless people on the street seeing their gifts trashed or on their floor was just getting to me. We only have a little time with our children or loved ones so this year my gift is memories. I will be donating money to a few charities and spending quality time with my family in exchange for gifts that are well….not what they are supposed to be. On that note. I want to be generous on my blog as well. Most of the stops listed below are hosting giveaways as well so don’t forget to visit them and enter to win prizes!!

What a great giveaway! Beats fighting the crowds for Black Friday shopping! I love the idea of less presents and doing a vacation-I would love to do that, a vacation is so much more relaxing than the usual holiday craziness it seems (might have to try to convince my family to do that next year!). What a wonderful way to spend Christmas with your family. When my kids were younger we did something similar with their birthdays. Instead of spending a lot of money on a birthday party with screaming kids and unappreciated gifts, each child got to choose a “special day” activity to do with the family. We went to the zoo, a waterpark, amusement parks, etc. Cost us the same, but way more fun for the family.

The BEST way to spend Black Friday is sitting at home, hopping with old friends and making new ones. I can’t handle the crowds anymore so I only do Black Friday shopping online if I do any. I tend to pick up gifts throughout the year so come November I’m finished. That way I can spread out the purchasing and not spend a fortune at the time of the year when my job is at its slowest and my paycheck is at its lowest. That is a great idea about the vacation. As a parent, I know I always wanted to spoil my child but it is hard to see those who suffer.
This year I will be donating to a local rescue to help the four legged kids have a good Christmas.

My family has done the vacation with no presents thing before and I really liked it, I remember the trips a lot more than I remember what presents I got. Plus, as we get older, the presents get harder and harder to do, and more and more expensive. I’d rather note the big items that I want and shop carefully for them and get a decent price rather than have someone spend the extra funds on me this time of year just because we are ‘supposed’ to get presents. Anyway, have fun on your vacation!

I would love to spend a week at Disney with my kids and grandkids, of course I would need a week on a deserted island to recover, but I think I’ll wait until they get a little older (5, 4, 2 and 3 months). When I was younger my parents took us to Disney for Christmas, it seemed a little strange, Christmas without snow (I live in Michigan, lots of snow!) but we made some really great memories.
