WOWZA.  Absolution by Susannah Sandlin IS the best Paranormal Romance I have read this year.  It takes a lot for me to become so absorbed in a book that I can read it during pee-wee football games.  With the yelling and cheering Ack I never read during this time.  That was not the case with Absolution.  It was if a veil folded over me every time I opened this book up.   I could hear and see nothing beyond the pages of Absolution.  When I was driving around (wishing I was at home reading) I would glance at it longingly as it sat on the seat next to me.  (you know…in case I have a minute to read in traffic) I do not have a problem!

With the vampire race on the edge of starvation and civil war due to a vaccine that has rendered human blood poisonous to them.  Penton, Alabama has become a unique town.  With vampires forming a small town of unvaccinated humans they are living together in peace.  This has drawn much unwanted attention from the Vampire Tribunal.  The tension in Absolution is deeper and more intense then the first book in this series, Redemption. (review HERE)  The main characters in Absolution are as well.  Susannah Sandlin created a diverse pallet of characters in this world.  Absolution is Mirren Kincaid’s story and he is the second in command in Penton’s town.  Aidan Murphy is the Mayor and leader of Penton and If Aidan was a star in Redemption – Mirren is a supernova in Absolution.  His emotions are high,  intense, and close to explosive.  When the young and vastly unique Glory lands in his hands he is in for a challenge.  Glory has talents of her own and I loved her strength and abilities.  The chemistry between Glory and Mirren is perfection.  Mirren is all alpha greatness and Glory matched him with ease.  The larger picture in this story is coming to a peak as well and I cannot wait to see what will happen.   With all of these factors added in it made Absolution a truly fantastic read that I could have easily turned around and reread again and again.   Absolution will be released October 9, 2012 from Montlake Romance.

Blurb:

With the vampire world on the brink of civil war over the scarcity of untainted human blood, battle lines are being drawn between the once peaceful vampire and human enclave of Penton, Alabama, and the powerful Vampire Tribunal. Mirren Kincaid once served the tribunal as their most creative and ruthless executioner—a time when he was known as the Slayer. But when assigned a killing he found questionable, Mirren abandoned the tribunal’s political machinations and disappeared—only to resurface two centuries later as the protector and second-in-command of Penton. Now the tribunal wants him back on their side. To break their rogue agent, they capture Glory Cummings, the descendant of a shaman, and send her to restore Mirren’s bloodthirsty nature. But instead of a monster, Glory sees a man burdened by the weight of his past. Could her magic touch—meant by the tribunal to bring out a violent killer—actually help Mirren break his bonds and discover the love he doesn’t believe he deserves?

  3. [...]  Mirren is from The Penton Legacy Series by Susannah Sandlin.   He was an example of an Alpha that is quite large.  (Hey!  Don’t be so dirty…that’s not what I meant!)  He is close to 7 feet tall, mostly grumpy, and extremely protective.  He is also second in command.  I think that makes him more Alpha in this story because of their situation.  Mirren is second to Aidan and they are both vampires.  Mirren is Aidan’s second by choice.  What do you think?  Yummy?  You can read my reviews here for REDEMPTION and ABSOLUTION  [...]
