Take Me For Longing is a traditional romance and the first book in the American Heartstrings Trilogy by Felice Fox.

If you follow this blog, or know me, you know that this is not my typical outlet.   However, I do love bluegrass and when I saw this was about a bluegrass musician I was intrigued!  So I set out to read Take Me For Longing.

What can I say…I got sucked in like a bubble down the drain!  It was such a sweet book.  June Cricket is a writer in L.A..  June loves blue grass and writes a novel about a real musician, Nic Taylor. Unintentionally, the whole bluegrass community figures out who this (apparently) steamy book is about.  This changes not only her life, but others as well.    This really was a sweet story about love.  It made me smile and brought music to my heart.   I would love to see a “sound track” posted, but I am a dork like that!!!

Eye of the Tempest, by Nicole Peeler

Eye of the Tempest by Nicole Peeler stars Jane True, a half silkie.  Jane has a destiny that even she is unsure she is ready for.  Jane and and her friends are being led to fight a war.  A war bigger then even Jane herself can imagine.  When a powerful and ancient being, with the power to destroy half of the eastern sea board (and possibly the world), awakes Jane must use her gut and heart to decide what is the right path.   Her friends and family are in danger and she must be the one to protect them.

I LOVE this whole series and so far, Eye of the Tempest is at the top of the list!   Jane True is a character that you love to love.  She is good through and through and always puts those she loves first.  Everyone should strive to be a little more like Jane!  Accept maybe her ability to get cock-blocked at every turn!  =)  Seriously!  She needs some kind of DND for the supes!  Jane and Anyan’s relationship has progressed….well except the cock-block issue previously mentioned!  The characters are well written, well formed, and I love them all!  Ms. Peeler has probably one of the biggest spectrum’s of personalities in one series that I have ever read!  There are bullys, pot heads, flaming lesbians, hot steamy men, and Jane’s libido has its own voice…….need I say more!  Bottom line is (in case its not obvious at this time)  LOVED IT and cannot wait until Tempest’s Fury is out in July….damn that sounds too far away!!!!

What a week!

So, since I have not posted a review in the last week I thought I should say HI.  so HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLOOOOOO

I am almost done with Nichole Peeler’s Eye of the Tempest and then will go onto read a new Romance book by a new author Felice Fox, Take Me For Longing.  (OK so i might have already started it….the Nicole Peeler book was left in the car and it was f’n cold!  Don’t Judge!)

I am looking forward to something new and refreshing.  I hope to have the Nicole Peeler book reviewed before Friday and then the Romance book reviewed by Sunday.  OR EARLIER.  I am getting antsy here!

Hope every has a great Valentines Day.   I think this year I think we need to create a word … like a bah humbug but for Valentines day…just sayin

A Brush of Darkness by Allison Pang

In A Brush of Darkness Abby’s life has recently changed.  Dramatically.  With the recent loss of her    mother Abby somehow gets thrown into a whole new reality.  A world with doors to other worlds, beings, and where dreams can be reality.   Abby tries to be cautious when navigating this new reality, but it is hard to do with a gorgeous succubus who needs her help.    Abby begins to learn more about herself and what she is during her journey and has the help of several friends along the way.   Many of these friends are disappearing, including her employer, Moira whom she is a Touchstone for.  Moira and other non-human races need a Touchstone to remain in our plane long term without negative effects.  She must find who is taking the people she cares about before it is too late.

A Brush of Darkness in the beginning felt as if I was missing a few chapters.  How exactly did she end up where she was?  I am still not sure, however. …. i still loved it.  I really like the originality of the characters and the world Abby lives in.  Brystion (Succubus gorgeousness) was a great character that you were not sure if you trusted, but couldn’t help falling in love with.  I absolutely loved the mini unicorn (i’m not saying anymore about that) and I really adored Abby.  Abby seemed to be quite traumatized and dealing with it how most of us deal with things.  We try to ignore and repress them of course!!

All in all this really was a good read and the more I think about all of the different dynamics I really cannot wait to get my hands on the second book!  This read will make you think and I appreciate that.

Third Grave Dead Ahead, by Darynda Jones

 

Third Grave Dead Ahead is the third book of the Grave series.

Charley Davidson is The Reaper.  Albeit, not your stereotypical kind.  Charley is a self employed PI           who works out of an office above her fathers bar.  Charley helps the local law enforcement solve cases    by working side by side with her uncle.  Charley has a slight advantage over other investigators.   She can communicate with the departed that have remained here.

Charley’s life in this book is much more dangerous, but she looses none of her sass.  Third Grave Dead Ahead is filled with action, emotions, and lots of snark.  The characters are really coming more and more to life with each book.  Charley’s life changes a lot in this book and reality is not the easiest pill to swallow.

I really did love this book!  I am falling in love with the charters and I was very happy Ms. Jones that you did not kill a certain somebody off!  =)  I was upset for a minute, but I am OK now.  This series is gaining a depth that I am certainly getting addicted too!

Second Grave on the Right, Darynda Jones

The Second Grave on the Right is the second book in the Grave series by Darynda Jones.  Charley Davidson is The Reaper.   She is cute, perky, unfiltered, bright and shiny,  and has a serious caffeine addiction.  What?  Not what you pictured?

Charley’s best friend, Cookie leads her on a search for her friend Mimi.  What they begin to unravel is something much larger then either of them could ever imagine.  During the investigation Charley inadvertently learns more about her powers and herself.  The man of her dreams is in danger and regardless of if he wants it, she is going to help him.  Charley is a character who never takes herself too serious and is loyal to those she loves.

Although this book was more on the serious side then the first book, Charley’s witty comments and perky attitude keep the mood light.  (no pun intended)  Complicated could not even begin to describe the relationship between Charley and Reyes’.   I love the development of the charters and I am dying to know what is going to happen next!
